Tron: Legacy vs Moon
Tron: Legacy
- Big Budget: $170m
- It's a sequel of a highly critisised film
- Produced in exotic location: Vancouver, Canada
- Large Cast, including stars such as Jeff Bridges (Oscar Winner), Michael Sheen and Olivia Wilde
- Lots of CGI: Used scenes of Jeff bridges form original tron
- the original was not a massive success: budget: 17m, gross 33m
- Had Daft Punk do a 24 track soundtrack with an accompanying orchestra
- Because they were distributed by disney, one of the big six, they were able to make attracttions at disney land and also create branded products for the film.
- Exhibit at Comic-Con to market film.
Moon
- Small Budget: $5m
- Produced in one studio: Shepperton Studios, London
- Very small cast, Sam Rockwell is the only main actor/charactar, Kevin Spacey as G.E.R.T.Y
- Director, Duncan Jones, won a BAFTA for special achievement by a British director, writer or producer in their first feature film.
- Because of the good directing, Duncan Jones became the director of an American, higher budget film 'Source Code' with a much larger budget (32m) and because it was distributed by an American company 'Summit Entertainment' grossed 123m
This as a whole reflects the film industry in the UK. We have the studios, we have great home grown directors , we have famous British stars (e.g Keira Knightly, Jude Law). But there is not nearly as much financial investment.

Paramount Pictures
Paramount Pictures was founded by Adolph Zukor on 8th May 1912 as 'Famous Players Studios', and changed to Paramount Pictures in 1914. The company is a subsidiary of Viacom, which is an American media conglomerate. It is also the fourth largest media conglomerate in the world.

Class Notes on: 'Camera Shots and Angles'
Camera Angles: A camera angle is used to position the viewer so they can understand the situation.
Camera Shots: Camera shot is used to show different aspects.
Different Camera Angles
Close Up: A close up can be used to show close up detail or emotion of a person or object. Also may show importance of a character.
Over the shoulder: An over the shoulder angle may be used to show us what a character can see or what is physically ahead of them.
Birds-Eye view: A brids-eye view can be used to show the whole view, to show height.
Vantage Point/Long Shot: A long shot establishes a scenery.
Mid-shot: A mid-shot can be used to show a conversation.
Two shot: A mid-shot with two people talking, you can usually see there torso.

Example of area of representation in a British TV show - Sexuality
This Youtube clip is taken from the british drama 'Skins'. The scene shows Maxxie, who is a homosexual, arriving at his friend Anwar's party. Anwar resited inviting Maxxie because he is Islamic, and although this doesn't bother Anwar he is concerned what his Dad will think because his Dad is a strongly Islamic, and they are against homosexualility. Because of this, this clip is an example of a representation of sexuality. Also because of how Anwar's religion is what effects this it is also an example of a representation of religion. This is also slightly a representation of Age from how it portrays teenagers.

My groups presentation on the director 'Wes Anderson'. I had never heard of Wes before we did this presentation, which was surprising because I have seen most the films he has directed. I found him very interesting because of how alot of his techniques come across in alot of his films. I was particuarly supried when I saw how many of his film have involved Owen Wilson and Bill Murray who are both amazing actors. I struggled a little bit with this since we made the presentation using a website 'prezi.com' which i had never used before.

A Bit About Me
Alright! I chose to study media because I suppose I thought it would be fun because it includes more practical work then other subjects, and also I watch alot of TV and I've sen alot of movies so I thought it would interest me :D. The other subjects that I study are Business, Economics and Graphic Design. My favourite band is probably N-Dubz, i'm not really sure why, probably because I like pretty much all the songs they make. My favourite film is probably the inbertweeners movie. I don't really read magazines at the minute.....I am starting to browse music magazines becauseit was suggested it would help with media, I ocasionally read 'four for two' which is an indepth football magazine. I use websites like facebook, twitter, skysports.com and thsun.co.uk. :) X
